BradCee is one of the new breed laptop/controller DJs working with Traktor3 and a customised Vestax VCI 100 that works as a pair of decks and 2 samplers - keeping close to traditional turntablism, but combining the techniques and possibilities that controllerism holds.
Brad has played a few live gigs, up until 2007 but then dropped out for a bit, as interest in his original style (breaks) started to faulter. Breaks still play a part in Brads sets, but he now plays more house music instead. The last couple of years have been spent playing with production software and experimenting with different DJ controllers. Until now Brad had been playing on vinyl and cdjs.
Brad was always interested in DJing and electronic styles of music, but the final push to make him grab his first set of decks was listening to Radio 1's millenium shows - featuring several of the big DJs at the time. The biggest influence came from Fatboy Slims set, something about the combination of different styles and mash-ups spoke to him in a way alot of the other sets couldn't.
Over the last 10 years Brad has had several different set-ups from 4 decks, to CDJs and effect units in an attempt to achieve the best way to push his mixing style and reconstruct tracks and build new ones on the fly. This has now been achieved with the VCI 100
Brads musical style combines tracks from the Breaks, Electro House, Minimal and Funky House genres, and with the combination of his custom VCI and 'Cue Jumper' keyboard he can blend these styles effortlessly and create live mash-ups and restructure tracks live.
